Siân Woodcock BA Hons Journalism: Participatory Video Practitioner

Siân Woodcock is the Producer and Editor of Novalda Participatory Video, with extensive knowledge of the world of media. Trained by the BBC and with experience working at the cutting edge of television production both for the BBC and independent production companies in the UK, she is the British contingent of Novalda Participatory Video, currently based in London.

With the expertise and resources she brings, Siân’s goal is to enable others to discover and document the starring roles within their lives through Participatory Video, a client driven collaborative film making process that culminates in a high quality personal film.

Currently working for Great British Menu, a prime-time half hour documentary series for BBC2, Siân works with individual chef’s to compose their biographies.  She was also involved in the BBC Video Nation project, a collection of creative and intimate short films about people’s lives.

Siân has followed up her own interests in travel and photography by working in Sri Lanka for a broadsheet newspaper and has documented her own life through photographs.  Looking at these photos brings back many happy memories of a life made up of special people, places, and opportunities that she made and took.

Inspired by her Dad’s storytelling, Siân documented his life story on film before he died of cancer in 2006. Always amazed at how little people know about their own family backgrounds she wants to give them the opportunity to learn about themselves, and the people they are close to, through filming their stories in an interactive and exciting way.
